About the role
The Staff Accountant ensures local finance and accounting tasks, including month-end closing for multiple companies and other financial reporting tasks, are executed accurately and timely. This position assists in the operation of the department and performs additional job-related responsibilities as needed.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and timely financial information is provided to corporate and local management.
- Maintain transaction processing systems, proper authorization controls, and accurate data entry in Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP.
- Prepare and post daily cash entries, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and adjusting journal entries.
- Perform account analysis and reconciliations on balance sheet accounts, daily and monthly bank reconciliations, weekly payroll analysis, and intercompany tie-outs.
- Support Senior Accountants on payroll, OPEX, revenue and gross margin analysis, and intercompany transactions.
- Maintain sound accounting and financial practices to present accurate, factual reports.
- Provide monthly financials in accordance with reporting standards.
- Perform ad hoc reporting, including in-depth analysis of sales, cost of sales, and operating expenses.
- Adjust to changing circumstances and add value in a rapidly growing company.
- Handle audit coordination and PBCs (Prepared by Client) documentation.
- Support a performance-based culture and ensure regulatory compliance across federal, state, and local agencies.
- Ensure quality and safety standards are met, drive continuous improvements, and collaborate to drive efficiencies.
- Foster a culture of open dialogue, high performance, and accountability in safety and business operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience (High School Diploma or GED minimum) considered.
- 3+ years of relevant work experience, preferably with monthly closings and in the commercial construction industry.
- Experience working with ERP systems, particularly Microsoft Dynamics AX; M&A, implementation, and conversion experience a plus.
- Proven ability to add value beyond "number crunching," with critical analysis skills for reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of construction industry, percentage of completion accounting, and job costing preferred.
- Experience supporting construction and field employee groups with strong problem-solving and self-initiative.
- Comfort with production floor presence and open-door communication with all employees.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and advanced Excel proficiency.
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.

Pay
Salary range: $70K–$76K, dependent on experience.
