Staff Accountant
Responsibilities
- Prior to posting journal entries to the general ledger, review transaction reports and make any necessary adjustments.
- Analyze general ledger accounts and reconcile to accounting records.
- Prepare journal entries to the general ledger for posting by Manager.
- Perform standard duties including but not limited to journal preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, financial report analysis generation and distribution.
- Prepare and finalize standard entries and module closings and ensure that all plant and corporate level activities are completed within specified timelines.
- Run required month end reports.
- Process and reconcile daily cash transactions as well as prepare bank reconciliation.
- Prepare daily reports containing cash balances, working capital, production, or other financial/operational metrics.
- Maintain inventory records and review requests to make inventory adjustments.
- Participate in annual physical counts at all facilities.
- Collect appropriate data and prepare federal, state and/or local government tax or income statements, reports, and surveys.
- Process all credit insurance and general insurance premiums.
- Prepare yearly general insurance renewal and vehicle registration renewals.
- Prepare and process monthly fixed asset report and depreciation.
- Update and modify fixed asset database on a continuous basis to ensure information is current.
- Perform fixed asset audits as needed.
- Absorb and distribute various other reports that will relate information such as production time factors or accuracy/quality rates at the plants.
- Create the bills of materials and maintain parts numbers system for all company products.
- Absorb and enforce internal controls, as necessary.
- Absorb and assist in preparation of annual budget.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with a degree in accounting or finance and one to three years accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with manufacturing-based company preferred.
- Possess a strong working knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Possess working knowledge of MS Office software.
- Knowledge of Crystal Reports software would be helpful.
- Able to successfully manage multiple tasks.
