Staff Accountant

Responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data.
• Prepare and post corporate & ownership level journal entries.
• Review employee reimbursements and expense reports for compliance with company policy.
• Process corporate invoices in AP platform.
• Aid in month-end and year-end close processes, preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
• Assist the tax preparers in completing annual tax returns.
• Maintain and oversee the listing of 1099 vendors and file forms by the January deadline.
• Ensure accounting duties are cross-trained and properly covered during each other’s absences.
• Maintain and oversee accounting controls.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to resolve discrepancies or accounting issues.
• Identify and recommend opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, knowledge of general financial accounting, understanding of and ability to adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
• Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, at least one year of related experience required, public experience a plus, CPA or MBA preferred but not required.
