Stablehand - Equine Care

About the role

Prime, Inc. is seeking a hard-working, self-motivated individual to attend to various farm responsibilities. This position involves maintaining outside grounds and farm stable, caring for horses and/or stables, mowing, edging, fertilizing lawns, weeding, mulching landscapes, trimming hedges, shrubs, and small trees, removing dead, damaged, or unwanted trees, maintaining fence work, and seasonal tasks like Christmas lights, window washing, snow removal, salting, mowing, trimming, and yard waste removal.

Responsibilities

• Care for horses and/or stables as directed by the Farm Manager.
• Mow, edge, and fertilize lawns.
• Weed and mulch landscapes.
• Trim hedges, shrubs, and small trees.
• Remove dead, damaged, or unwanted trees.
• Maintain fence work as directed by the Farm Manager.
• Seasonal work may include projects such as Christmas lights, washing windows, snow removal, salting sidewalks and/or pavement, mowing, trimming, and yard waste removal.
• May be required to climb and work off of a ladder, operate various farm equipment, and drive company vehicles.

Qualifications

• Any combination of education, training, and experience providing the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
• Knowledge of grounds and farm maintenance experience is strongly preferred.
• Understanding how to use and operate lawn care equipment is helpful.
• Must have a strong work history.
• The work can be repetitive and physically demanding.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisor and co-workers.
• Must be able to work independently and also part of a team environment.

Physical Requirements

• This position requires constant standing, walking, forward reaching, pedal control and grasping;
• Frequent head turning, bending, kneeling, stooping, squatting, handling, climbing and reaching.
• Candidate must be able to lift and carry 75lbs and also push and pull a push mower seasonally.

Working Environment

• Both indoor and outdoor working environment with exposure to varying weather conditions and chemical odors.

Licensing/Certification

• Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation to and from work.

Miscellaneous Requirements

• Candidate must be able to pass a job specific post-offer physical prior to beginning employment with Prime, Inc.
