ST Shipping & Receiving Clerk

Reporting directly to the Warehouse Manager, this role oversees verification and record-keeping for incoming and outgoing shipments, prepares shipment documents, checks in drivers, and manages picks/shipments/receives in the Business Central Inventory system. Acts as the primary liaison between the Shipping Department and Planning/Logistics teams while supporting overall warehouse operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • Position-specific vocational education, training, or certification preferred
  • Valid stand-up and sit-down forklift certification preferred (in-house training provided prior to start)
  • 1 year of Shipping & Receiving experience required
  • 1 year of administrative experience required
  • 1 year of stand-up forklift experience required
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong experience with warehouse inventory systems and Microsoft Office Products
  • Intermediate computer skills, including RF scanners and Business Central or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Examine shipment contents and compare with records (manifests, invoices, orders) to verify accuracy
  • Record shipment data (weight, charges, space availability, damages, discrepancies) for reporting and recordkeeping
  • Prepare documents such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders to route materials
  • Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping using hand tools, power tools, or postage meter
  • Maintain minimal to no quality errors and/or mis-shipments
  • Create, register, post, and confirm inventory picks using Business Central software
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and problem-solving with minimal guidance
  • Adhere to all Environmental, Health, Safety, Security, and DOT/IATA/IMDG hazardous materials regulations
  • Follow RC14001 guiding principles, policies, and procedures
  • Maintain hazardous waste in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Support Responsible Care 14001 (RC14001) and EHS&S management system implementation
  • Perform other duties as requested

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand/sit for prolonged periods
  • Frequent clear written/verbal communication via phone, email, or in person
  • Wear required personal safety equipment
  • Specific vision abilities: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
  • Regular use of hands/fingers to handle objects, tools, or controls
  • Frequent standing, walking, squatting, stooping, kneeling, reaching above head, bending/twisting neck and trunk
  • Frequent computer and RF scanner use

Training & Conduct

  • Complete company’s written training program for this position
  • Maintain safe, legal, and environmentally protective operations
  • Respond quickly to customer concerns and follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), quality, and food safety requirements
  • Maintain training on applicable procedures in quality, GMP, and food safety
  • Report food safety, security, or quality issues to management or HACCP team
  • Support new business opportunities with flexible and innovative strategies
  • Utilize resources cost-effectively to contribute to profitability
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn and maintain a positive "Can Do" attitude
