About the role
The Midwifery Unit Manager Level 2 is responsible for leading, directing, and coordinating patient or client care, ensuring the practice of nursing and/or midwifery is safe and efficient, and managing the business and management functions and processes of the ward or unit.
Responsibilities
- Lead, direct, and co-ordinate patient or client care
- Ensure the practice of nursing and/or midwifery is safe and efficient, maintaining standards of care through continual quality improvement initiatives
- Lead and coordinate the nursing and midwifery and multidisciplinary care team at the ward or unit level
- Monitor and manage the business and management functions and processes of the ward or unit
- Demonstrate leadership capabilities through attitude, skills, behavior, and attributes such as broad midwifery experience and knowledge, understanding of patient-centered service delivery, professional integrity, ethical conduct, accountability, advocacy, enabling others, cultivating collaborative relationships, and commitment to advancing the profession of midwifery and care provision.
Requirements
- Current registration as a Registered Midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia
- A relevant management tertiary qualification or equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience with a demonstrated commitment to professional development
- A demonstrated knowledge and experience in the management and delivery of health care services
- A proven ability in innovative clinical service delivery, harm minimization, and practice development
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills that demonstrate the ability to engage, enable, and manage teams
- A proven ability to create and maintain a positive workplace culture and articulate and achieve a vision for midwifery services
- Demonstrated recent midwifery management experience
