Pay
The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position: $54.67 – $70.54 – $79.00 per hour. Actual pay rate and pay grade will depend on years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, and employer business practices.
Responsibilities
- Utilizes clinical experience and expertise to assess and facilitate patient access.
- Assists patients, staff, and physicians to maintain high efficiency of operations and customer service while providing quality care.
- Serves as technical nursing expert for assigned area.
- Demonstrates clinical knowledge and technical expertise; triages patients, collects pertinent information, and routes to physician as needed.
- Returns phone calls according to physician instruction; schedules patient appointments.
- Manages all urgent and emergent tasks; partners with staff and providers to triage urgent MySharp messages.
- Uses well-developed triage and assessment skills to deliver nursing care; triages walk-in patients.
- Performs or assists with all tests and procedures in assigned department; may act as a clinical resource.
- Accurately documents patient care per protocol; partners with physicians to expand clinical knowledge base.
- Uses universal precautions and demonstrates knowledge of infection control policies.
- Participates in clinical projects as directed by the physician or manager.
- Organizes and completes daily requirements; ensures prompt and efficient return of telephone messages.
- Monitors patient flow, physician schedules, and completes daily tasks to meet service standards.
- Follows policy and procedure for entering OCM; completes work within assigned hours.
- Prioritizes patient needs and responds to urgent and emergent situations calmly.
- Ensures readiness of reports and information to maximize patient visits; maintains appropriate supply levels.
- Completes department inventories and prepares for site inspections.
- Enters authorizations and schedules surgeries and procedures accurately and timely.
- Assists in other departments as needed to meet staffing requirements.
- Assists with training and education of new and existing staff; acts as a resource and role model.
- Facilitates inter-departmental cooperation and teamwork; adheres to Sharp HealthCare standards of conduct.
- Maintains current knowledge of applicable medications; demonstrates safe and accurate administration techniques.
- Ensures verification and documentation of all medications administered, including two-patient identifier verification.
- Assists with Medical Assistant medication verification in immediate area.
- Completes Nursing Competencies with a score of 90% or greater.
- Completes Quality Assurance assignments and ensures department compliance; maintains narcotic control procedures.
- Assists with prescription reconciliation at the end of the month; supports and completes quality initiatives (P4P, BMI, DataMart).
- Demonstrates knowledge of equipment and Information Systems applications; activates emergency procedures per protocol.
- Documents patient care events thoroughly and accurately; manages and completes AEHR tasks per prescribed timelines.
- Supports and learns new applications and policies (AEHR, Abbreviations, etc.).
- Demonstrates typing proficiency: minimum 30 words per minute with 0–2 errors; proofreads work.
- Knowledge of insurance, utilization review, scheduling requirements, and front desk responsibilities.
- Operates and maintains department equipment; IV proficient.
Requirements
- California Registered Nurse (RN) – CA Board of Registered Nursing (REQUIRED).
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) – American Heart Association (REQUIRED).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- 1 year RN experience in a related clinical area.
- Triage experience.
- Leadership experience.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (employee provides certificate).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – American Heart Association.
