About the role
KPFF’s Washington Division Transportation Group is seeking an experienced Transportation Civil Engineering Prime Project Manager to lead impactful projects and drive our team forward. This senior role involves leading transportation projects across Washington, managing client relationships, business development, and design team management.
Responsibilities
- Lead Full Project Lifecycle Management: Manage all phases of transportation projects, including planning, design, budgeting, permitting, construction oversight, and project closeout, while ensuring quality and adherence to timelines.
- Provide Technical Expertise and Oversight: Oversee advanced engineering design and calculations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements. Direct teams in the preparation of complex drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
- Drive Client Relationships and Business Development: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, managing relationships and expectations. Identify new business opportunities, contribute to proposal development, and support business growth through networking and project success.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Oversee the permitting process, coordinate with regulatory agencies, and ensure that all projects meet regulatory standards and industry best practices.
- Mentor and Lead Project Teams: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project team members, fostering professional growth and a collaborative project environment. Delegate tasks effectively while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Manage Project Schedules, Budgets, and Resources: Develop and maintain project schedules, track project budgets, and allocate resources efficiently to ensure project milestones are achieved within scope and cost parameters.
- Promote Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Stay informed of industry advancements and integrate new technologies and methods to enhance project efficiency and client satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering; Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in Washington State required; Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil/transportation engineering, with a strong background in Washington project management.
- Additional Qualifications: Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil3D required; MicroStation, and OpenRoads familiarity is a plus; Knowledge of codes, regulations, and standards applicable to the design and construction of transportation projects in Washington; Permitting experience with various municipalities; Ability to manage multiple active projects concurrently; Excellent communication, teamwork, and collaborative skills are essential; Competency, accountability, and personal commitment to deliver quality work to our clients, and to mentor younger staff.
