About the Role
The Therapeutic Area Specialist (TAS) is a critical role in our customer model, executing Bristol Myers Squibb’s (BMS) aspiration to deliver impactful engagement with Health Care Providers (HCPs) and drive adoption of new and existing medicines for appropriate patients. The TAS builds and maintains strong professional credibility with regional thought leaders (RTLs), community-based physicians/HCPs, office staff, and other stakeholders in the patient care continuum as their primary point of contact. This field-based role requires 100% time spent engaging external customers, prioritizing the safe and appropriate use of BMS products while focusing on business results and performance objectives.
Responsibilities
- Portfolio Promotion:
- Promote approved indications of BMS products within a defined territory to meet or exceed assigned sales targets in a compliant manner.
- Create demand for BMS medicines by articulating the clinical and scientific rationale for use in appropriate patients.
- Maintain and grow scientific expertise in assigned products and therapeutic areas.
- Develop and implement comprehensive territory and account plans.
- Use tools such as CE3 to derive insights and dynamically inform call plans; provide feedback to leadership for continuous improvement.
- Fair & Balanced Scientific Dialogue:
- Demonstrate scientific expertise and passion using approved resources to present medically accurate information to HCPs.
- Conduct in-office presentations (e.g., lunch and learns) and discuss product-related scientific information consistent with label.
- Organize external speaker programs, selecting approved speakers and facilitating scheduling and logistics.
- Maintain expertise on emerging data for approved indications.
- Engage Medical on Call for real-time support to answer unsolicited questions and complex technical inquiries.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate proactively with other field teams to ensure the best Customer Experience (Cx) for HCPs.
- Gather and share relevant insights internally to enable BMS to better serve its customers.
- Comply with all laws, regulations, and BMS policies governing conduct.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED (required); advanced scientific degree preferred.
- 5+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience in healthcare sales, Medical Science Liaison (MSL), HCP engagement, or nursing.
- Ability to communicate scientific or clinical data accurately and convincingly to help physicians serve their patients.
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining credibility with key customers, office staff, and stakeholders through a customer-centric mindset.
- Experience in Cardiovascular preferred.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals with strong account management and selling competencies.
- Ability to work effectively cross-functionally with a positive, team-oriented mindset.

Pay
$134,390 - $162,843 (annual, field-based role in the United States).
