Sr. Team Leader

About the role

As the Sr. Team Leader, you will be a key player in supporting management and overseeing various operational aspects of the business. Your role will include assisting with recruitment, onboarding, retention, engagement, and training. You will support the restaurant with ensuring that the café maintains high standards of cleanliness and efficiency. You will also be responsible for delegating tasks to team members to help ensure excellent guest service, high product quality, while driving strong sales performance. As Sr. Team Leader, you play a critical role in supporting the success of the café.

Responsibilities

• Drive a culture of service, ensuring each employee emulates exemplary guest service to create a welcoming experience.
• Handle difficult guest issues fairly, balancing business needs and guest expectations.
• Drive a culture of sales by ensuring employees understand sales goals and their role in achieving them.
• Support the team in guest-focused upselling techniques.
• Administer new product launches, promotions, and seasonal events, ensuring teams are well-versed in changes.
• Replenish and merchandise pastry and beverage displays, teaching others to do the same.
• Partner with management on daily and monthly inventory to ensure accuracy with product and ingredients.
• Learn and understand all company policies and hold yourself and your team accountable to these expectations.
• Support the manager in delivering companywide communication and reinforcing brand messages.
• Master the Point of Sale (POS) system and teach/troubleshoot as needed.
• Ensure accuracy in all cash handling procedures and hold the team accountable to the same.
• Execute private events, catering, and special orders with team support.
• Ensure general store operations align with company policy and brand standards.
• Act as an excellent coach, providing clear expectations and timely feedback to improve performance.
• Partner with training and management to ensure proper onboarding and role-specific training for employees, focusing on guest service and upselling.
• Ensure all compliance training is completed in a timely manner.
• Work with management to ensure schedules are completed, posted, and understood by the team.
• Partner with HR and management on incident reporting for guests or employees.
• Ensure menu items adhere to product quality standards; taste test products and share feedback as necessary.
• Assign and ensure completion of all daily, weekly, and monthly checklists.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum High School Diploma/GED or some college.
• At least 2-4 years of food handling experience.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays.
• Strong understanding of café/restaurant operations, product quality standards, and guest experience fundamentals.
• Experience with POS systems; Toast experience is a plus.
• Solid grasp of inventory planning, waste control, and basic P&L understanding.
