About the role
The Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer at SIG SAUER, Inc. ensures the quality of supplied manufactured products. They investigate and disposition non-conforming product, implement control plans, and utilize statistical methods to prevent reoccurrence. They also support production needs by organizing scrap, sorts, and rework for non-conforming material.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Review and disposition non-compliant material of major complexity using inspection data and quality methods.
- Accurately assess issue culpability and determine correct gaging methods.
- Design and source custom gages for specific applications.
- Approve design of custom gages created by lower-level engineers.
- Experienced in MRP, PPAP, and Microsoft programs like Access.
- Extensive knowledge of supplier quality management systems and vendor evaluation systems.
- Train less experienced team members on these systems.
- Lead portions of ISO compliance and serve as a QC representative for audits.
- Identify and lead continuous improvement projects.
- Participate in 5S workplace activities and maintain work area according to standards.
- Operate independently to complete required tasks as directed by business needs.
- Conduct analysis of supplier quality failures and implement corrective actions.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers and internal customers.
- Help other team members and relay information between departments.
- Train others and enhance the skill level of fellow team members.
- Make independent decisions on corrective actions for supplier quality problems.
- Perform root cause analysis of supplier quality failures, particularly related to product and/or processes.
Education/Experience & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering sciences, with 7-10 years of experience in Manufacturing or Quality Engineering roles.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- High level of mechanical technical expertise required.
- Proficient with inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, microhites, optical comparators, and blue light scanning software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with CAD software.
- Experience evaluating and troubleshooting all steps from receiving inspection of raw material to final inspection of completed parts.
- Ability to operate independently and make decisions on corrective actions.
