About the role

The Sr. Quality Engineer will implement APQP/PPAP methodologies (Flow Charts, MSA, PFMEAs, Control Plans, Statistical Process Control), maintain detailed Control Plan currency, manage/monitor processes and scrap/rework for undesirable trends and take/document action(s).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure documentation accuracy for all production related processes.
  • Implement APQP/PPAP methodologies (Flow Charts, MSA, PFMEAs, Control Plans, Statistical Process Control).
  • Maintain detailed Control Plan currency.
  • Manage/monitor processes and scrap/rework for undesirable trends and take/document action(s).
  • Ensure documentation accuracy for all production related processes.
  • Perform root cause analysis using tools such as Fault Tree, Ishikawa Diagram, Turtle Diagram and 5Y.
  • Use various measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, bore gauge, CMM, etc.) for inspections.
  • Conduct data analysis and participate in Design Reviews to ensure drawings adequately define requirements for production staff and quality of the product.
  • Track customer claims (warranty and non-warranty) via Normea, perform returns failure analysis and generate detailed failure analysis reports.
  • Provide management detailed monthly reporting on customer claims trends by customer/failure/number of claims, claims open to closure times and planned actions to reduce claims.
  • Participate in and support field service events as required.
  • Key participating member of the internal audit team, perform layered process audits and support 3rd party/customer audits.
  • Provide quality assurance support within the Quality department and to other departments/groups within Saft as requested.
  • Qualify Saft Authorized Battery Repair Stations (SABRs) and recurring audits of the same to maintain certification currency.
  • Support production testing, engineering special testing and qualification testing.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering Degree preferred) with 2-3 years minimum experience as a Quality Engineer or an A.A.S in a related field with 4-7 years direct experience as a Quality Engineer.
  • ISO 9001, AS9100, various manufacturing processes (chemical, mechanical, or electrochemical).
  • Familiarity with 4D and 8D corrective actions.
  • Experience with data analysis, AS9102 First Article Inspections, previous experience performing audits and working with diversified teams to problem solve.
  • Well versed in Microsoft’s Office Suite.
  • Preferred Skills/Experience: Previous Quality Engineering Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, Lean Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control, Familiar with Part 145 Repair Station activities and Part 21 Parts Approval Holder, Previous experience managing technical personnel and interviewing, Previous experience with battery manufacturing and electrical test labs, Train the production teams on root cause analysis, corrective/preventative action, Provide management detailed monthly reporting on customer claims trends by customer/failure/number of claims, claims open to closure times and planned actions to reduce claims, Participate in and support field service events as required, Key participating member of the internal audit team, Perform layered process audits and support 3rd party/customer audits, Provide quality assurance support within the Quality department and to other departments/groups within Saft as requested, Additional responsibilities include Share in the process of qualifying Saft Authorized Battery Repair Stations (SABRs) and recurring audits of the same to maintain certification currency, Support production testing, engineering special testing and qualification testing.
