Sr. Structural | Bridge Design Engineer
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee bridge design and analysis projects in accordance with NCDOT requirements.
- Perform structural analysis and design for various types of bridge structures, including new constructions, widening and rehabilitations.
- Prepare and review engineering reports, drawings, and specifications.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ensure projects adhere to budgetary and scheduling constraints.
- Conduct field inspections and evaluations of existing bridge conditions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior Engineers and staff.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of NCDOT policies, guidelines, and industry best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master’s degree (MSCE) preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of North Carolina is required.
- 10 to 15+ years of experience in bridge engineering, with a focus on NCDOT projects.
- Extensive knowledge of NCDOT design standards, specifications, and procedures.
- Proficiency in bridge design software (e.g., LARSA, Merlin Dash, Leap Bridge).
- Familiarity with detailing software such as Microstation and OpenBridge is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.

This position requires a strong background in civil and engineering principles, as well as the ability to manage and train others. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential. Must be professional, comfortable with client interaction, and able to build relationships. A quality-minded and client-focused attitude is also crucial.
