Sr. Staff Platform Engineer

About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Sr. Staff Platform Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Healthcare space. This role will help define the technical foundation that supports engineering teams building reliable, scalable systems in a highly regulated healthcare environment. You will own major platform initiatives from architecture through execution, partnering closely with engineering peers to reduce friction, improve consistency, and accelerate delivery. The position also plays a key role in shaping shared infrastructure, strengthening testing practices, and driving measurable improvements in reliability, cost, and operational efficiency.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Pay

$150,000 – $180,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Own critical platform initiatives with single-threaded responsibility
• Set architectural direction and create shared components for consistency
• Lead through hands-on technical excellence in complex systems
• Drive execution across organizational boundaries and resolve systemic blockers
• Own end-to-end testing infrastructure strategy for engineering teams
• Mentor Staff and Senior engineers on system design and migration strategy
• Lead reduction of technical debt and cost through large-scale infrastructure changes
• Establish metrics to demonstrate the value of platform investments

Qualifications

• 12+ years in Platform, Infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE roles with cross-team initiative ownership
• Expertise in Kubernetes/EKS, service mesh, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or similar)
• Proven track record of leading complex, multi-quarter technical programs from architecture to execution
• Experience debugging production incidents in distributed systems
• Proficiency in Go, Python, TypeScript, or Java, with strategic coding judgment
• Ability to influence across engineering orgs without direct authority
• Experience mentoring Staff-level engineers and shaping system design approaches
