Sr Staff Attorney ,Insurance Defense

Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse portfolio of insurance defense matters from inception through trial or other resolution
• Analyze legal issues and develop robust defense strategies through comprehensive research
• Draft and respond to legal documents including pleadings and dispositive motions with minimal supervision
• Take and defend depositions, work with experts, and prepare witnesses for testimony
• Represent clients at various legal proceedings such as trials, mediations, and arbitrations
• Provide timely and practical legal advice to claims and insured partners
• Ensure efficient case progress while maintaining high quality and customer service

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
• Accepted license to practice in California and able to appear in local state and federal courts
• Minimum of 7 years' litigation experience, especially in insurance defense and complex tort matters
• Documented first-chair jury trial or appellate experience preferred
• Excellent legal writing, research, and persuasive advocacy skills
• Ability to manage a caseload of 50-55 files independently and prioritize deadlines
• Familiarity with Southern California courts and local practices
