Sr. Specialist, Systems Engineer
About the role
L3Harris Integrated Vision Solutions (IVS) is seeking a highly motivated Senior Systems Engineer to join our engineering team in Londonderry, NH. In this role, you will contribute to the end-to-end development, integration, and transition to production of advanced soldier-borne and platform-mounted sensing systems. IVS products include aiming lasers, laser range finders, low-light and fused sensor systems, mobility sensors, and other ruggedized integrated vision technologies supporting warfighter overmatch.
This position provides hands-on engineering engagement, technical leadership, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. You will work closely with optical, sensor, mechanical, electrical, firmware, and manufacturing engineers to design and deliver products that move from concept to prototype to full-rate production.

Responsibilities
- Perform engineering trade studies and analysis on existing and emerging IVS product technologies.
- Translate customer and system requirements into architectures, design concepts, and interface definitions.
- Provide systems engineering guidance across multidisciplinary teams (sensors, optics, mechanics, firmware, electronics).
- Develop and maintain system-level specifications, requirements, and verification methods.
- Conduct hands-on system build, integration, debugging, and performance testing.
- Lead technical problem solving throughout prototype development and production transition.
- Support technical risk management, configuration management, and requirements traceability activities.
- Collaborate with program management, operations, and manufacturing engineering to ensure smooth production ramp and sustainment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience.
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills
- Proven ability to communicate technical concepts and requirements across multidisciplinary teams.
- Working knowledge of system engineering processes including requirements development, verification planning, and technical risk management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within small, collaborative technical teams.
- Experience developing military or ruggedized products, soldier systems, or EO/IR sensors.
- Familiarity with modeling, analysis, or simulation of electro-optical systems is a plus.
