About the Opportunity
The Sr. Software Engineer role is responsible for designing, building, and optimizing high-performance backend systems and APIs that power the organization's digital health solutions. This position contributes directly to engineering scalable, highly available, and secure software architectures, integrating advanced technologies such as event-driven microservices and multi-cloud environments. The role plays a key part in ensuring software quality, data integrity, and compliance with healthcare security standards, directly impacting the delivery of clinical tools that influence patient care.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, robust backend systems and core enterprise APIs
- Develop, optimize, and scale highly resilient, event-driven microservices architectures
- Architect and maintain MongoDB configurations for high-performance, non-relational data storage solutions
- Create, document, and maintain highly performant RESTful and GraphQL APIs for seamless internal and external data consumption
- Implement and tune real-time data streaming and messaging solutions using Apache Kafka
- Build, deploy, and manage distributed, multi-cloud applications leveraging native AWS and Azure cloud services
- Ensure all software layers strictly adhere to healthcare data privacy, security protocols, and compliance requirements
- Integrate advanced AI and machine learning (AI/ML) models to optimize content search functionality and automated data enrichment
- Systematically apply the Twelve-Factor App methodology to maximize application portability, cloud elasticity, and resilience
- Develop comprehensive test infrastructure and automated testing frameworks to ensure uncompromised product quality
- Travel to corporate headquarters for collaborative team meetings 1-2 times per year; fully remote work flexibility is supported from anywhere within the United States
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related quantitative technical field
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive, professional software engineering experience
- Four (4) or more years of hands-on development using Core Spring Framework modules (including Spring Core, Spring MVC, and Spring Data JPA)
- Proven experience building production-grade, secure RESTful APIs leveraging Spring Boot
- Three (3) or more years of practical experience designing and deploying distributed, microservices-based architectures
- Three (3) or more years of hands-on experience configuring and managing native AWS and Azure cloud solutions
- Two (2) or more years of experience operating with relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL), complex relational data modeling, Python 3.10+, and Apache Kafka
- One (1) or more years of experience managing container orchestration via Amazon EKS and Azure AKS, alongside MongoDB, Java 21, foundational AI/ML frameworks, and advanced security protocols (including OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and SAML)
- Deep foundational understanding of modern CI/CD automation pipelines utilizing Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Strong architectural understanding of the Twelve-Factor App design principles and cloud-native patterns
- Proven understanding of healthcare data privacy regulations and enterprise security principles
- Prior engineering experience within a HIPAA-regulated, digital health, health-tech, or medical software environment
- Practical experience developing or fine-tuning search interfaces utilizing vector databases or LLM integrations
Pay Range and Compensation Package
The target baseline salary framework is $155,000.00 to $165,000.00 USD annually. Final base salary placement within this tier is calibrated dynamically based upon the candidate's backend architectural depth, multi-cloud infrastructure fluencies, and Java/Spring engineering evaluation outcomes.
