Sr Software Development Engineer, OEM Solid State Drives Team

About the role

The OEM SSD team in Hardware Engineering Services owns the full lifecycle of SSDs across EC2 platforms, from qualification through firmware updates to end-of-life. We are seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to build the software services that automate and streamline this lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a multi-year automation roadmap aimed at replacing manual workflows with scalable, reliable services.
• Build SSD qualification and fleet management solutions that improve drive health and reliability across EC2, EBS, and S3 platforms, partnering with software and hardware teams.
• Own end-to-end service development: requirements, design docs, implementation, testing, deployment, and operational runbooks.
• Use agentic AI-powered coding and design tools daily to accelerate prototyping, testing, and code delivery.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• 7+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Strong understanding or motivation to learn drive (SSD and/or HDD) technologies
