Sr Shop Trailer Mechanic

About the role

Cox Fleet is seeking a Senior Shop Trailer Mechanic. This is a dedicated on-site shop position and does not provide emergency roadside repairs.

Responsibilities

• Perform certified DOT inspections and preventive maintenance inspections
• Perform light and advanced repairs
• Assist in cleanup at the end of each day
• Work with Service Writer to assess customer needs
• Manage concurrent assigned tasks
• Communicate with Shop Manager and support team
• Perform minor adjustments and repairs on trailer equipment and systems
• Diagnose, adjust, and repair trailer equipment and systems
• Identify problems and determine accuracy and relevance of information
• Perform advanced diagnostics and triage of complex repairs

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED and 5 years' experience in a related field
• OR any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline and 3 years' experience
• OR 7 years' experience in a related field
• Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties
• OEM training and certifications are preferred
• Participate in and complete all-in company required training

Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of trailer parts and systems
• Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time
• Ability to exert oneself physically over long periods of time without tiring
• Ability to accurately judge distances
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to determine the type of tools and equipment needed
• Use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions
