Sr Shop Trailer Mechanic

About the role

Cox Fleet is seeking a Senior Shop Trailer Mechanic to join our dedicated team. This position requires a strong background in trailer maintenance and repair, with the ability to perform complex diagnostics and repairs.

Responsibilities

• Perform certified DOT inspections and preventive maintenance inspections
• Light and advanced repairs on trailers, including trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps and engines, liftgates, brake chambers, welding, fabrication, replacement of panels, body and framework
• Advanced diagnostics and triage of complicated repairs for Shop Trailer Technicians I/II
• Assist in cleanup at the end of each day
• Manage concurrent assigned tasks and prioritize work activities
• Communicate with Shop Manager and support team to obtain approvals and discuss RO findings
• Participate in and complete all-in company required safety training
• Conduct safety checks and daily pre/post trip inspections
• Perform minor adjustments and repairs on trailer equipment and systems
• Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives
• Diagnose, adjust, and repair trailer equipment and systems
• Assist Shop Trailer Technician I with diagnostics
• Support Shop Trailer Technician I/II in obtaining correct parts for each job
• Perform advanced diagnostics and triage of complicated repairs by Shop Trailer Technicians I/II

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED and 5 years' experience in a related field
• 3 years' experience in reefer operations
• Possession and supply of a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties
• OEM training and certifications are preferred
• Completion of all-in company required training within 18 months

• Knowledge of trailer parts and systems
• Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time
• Ability to exert oneself physically over long periods of time without tiring
• Ability to accurately judge distances and communicate effectively
• Use of logic and reasoning to solve problems

Pay

USD 29.42 - 44.13 per hour. The hourly base rate may vary based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities.
