Sr Scientist
Overview
Waters Corporation is seeking a Materials Scientist to contribute to the advancement of biotherapeutics through the research and development of new chemical tools.
Responsibilities
- Research and develop new inorganic, polymeric, and hybrid materials for diverse chromatographic applications.
- Functionalize silica and polymer-based materials for the characterization and quantitation of biological molecules.
- Conduct site-specific modification of constructs to allow orientation-directed conjugation.
- Collaborate with engineers, analytical scientists, and manufacturing teams to ensure product performance requirements and meet development timelines.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and rigorous documentation practices.
- Comply with environment, safety, health, and quality standards.
Qualifications
- PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related discipline with 1 or more years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree with 5+ years of experience; or Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of experience, including project leadership.
- Expertise in biomolecular interactions, such as the protein-protein interactions or biomolecule-to-surface interactions is desired.
- Experience with different solid surface bioconjugation approaches and the quantification of biomolecules immobilized to solid surfaces.
- Knowledge of liquid chromatography principles and material characterization.
- Knowledge in the areas of bioprocessing, biomolecular interactions, recombinant engineering, protein expression, site-specific protein modification, and biomolecular characterization approaches is a plus.
- Ability to work independently following high-level guidance and the ability to set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines.
- Willingness to learn different techniques, have a positive attitude, and an innate collaborative spirit.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
