Sr Safety Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated Sr Safety Specialist to join our team and support a national aerospace manufacturer in Wichita, Kansas.
About the Role
This full-time, onsite position is a 6-month contract (with potential for extension) focused on providing occupational health and safety expertise to a key aerospace client. The role involves a blend of workplace safety assessments, program evaluations, and project management. The schedule is 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (e.g., 9am–5pm), with occasional shift rollover coverage. Note: This role is subject to termination or extension based on client budget and project needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive occupational safety consulting, including shop floor observations to identify, assess, and mitigate injury/illness risks.
- Collaborate with Apex client relationship managers to execute safety projects within organizational standards.
- Implement and monitor service plans in close coordination with the client, reporting progress to stakeholders.
- Advise the client on occupational safety issues and contribute to identifying new EHS project opportunities.
- Apply technical knowledge in areas such as hazard identification, accident investigations, machine guarding, OSHA regulations, and more.
- Ensure compliance with EHS regulations and maintain awareness of legal updates.
- Prepare reports, manage data, and demonstrate strong technical writing and multitasking skills.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering field (required).
- Minimum 6+ years of hands-on occupational safety experience, with industrial hygiene or ergonomics experience a plus.
- Preferred credentials: Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
- Experience in manufacturing, assembly, aerospace, defense, or automotive industries is advantageous.
- Proficiency in OSHA regulations, hazard assessments, accident investigations, and safety program management.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and self-starter skills for collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
- Valid driver’s license and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Schedule
