SR SAFETY SPECIALIST

About the role

The Sr Safety Specialist is a high-performing contributor who works to create and facilitate an accident-free workplace by executing and implementing safety policies and programs, providing training, generating and maintaining safety documentation, and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws within assigned facilities or locations. This role promotes and maintains a safe and healthy work environment by collaborating with various departments to minimize workplace hazards and foster a culture of safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing instruction of OSHA-required safety disciplines.
• Ensure all annual or recurring safety training requirements are met.
• Organize training sessions to ensure all employees within the assigned area have current safety training as required by law and Company guidelines.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee training and safety records and reports.
• Review and update Job Safety Analysis documents to identify work-related hazards.
• Conduct safety audits across multiple facilities to identify and correct unsafe conditions and unsafe acts.
• Monitor employee behavior within the assigned area and recommend remedial safety instructions as necessary.
• Participate in accident and incident investigations to determine root causes of events.
• Write detailed summaries and recommendations regarding corrective actions necessary to prevent accidents.
• Communicate regularly with safety personnel to promote consistency in the application of safety policies throughout the Company.
• Lead and participate in division projects addressing safety issues.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
• 4-6 years of job-specific experience or equivalent education and/or experience.
• Safety training and certificates preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety disciplines, other regulatory guidelines, and common industrial safety practices.

Other details

• Occasional travel is required.
• This role may work in classrooms, offices, and high-traffic production floors.
