About the role

The Senior Safety Manager provides regional leadership and oversight for health & safety programs across an assigned territory of 5 to 10 distribution centers. This role is responsible for driving the consistent implementation and management of corporate safety strategies, ensuring regulatory compliance, promoting a culture of safety excellence through proactive identification, mitigation, and reduction of Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) risks within the region.

Reporting to the Sr. Director of Safety, the Senior Safety Manager acts as a key partner to regional and site operational leadership. This position involves strategic execution, performance analysis across multiple sites, conducting and overseeing audits, ensuring robust incident investigation processes, mentoring site personnel with safety responsibilities, and travel.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Monday-Friday (standard business hours)
  • Full-Time- Exempt
  • $120,000 - $150,000 annually (based on experience)
  • Bonus eligible

What You Will Do

  • Lead regional safety strategy with a focus on reducing Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) and potential Serious Injury and Fatality (pSIF) risks by integrating risk management into daily operations and business decision-making.
  • Effectively administer existing programs in accordance with policies and procedures to identify critical risk exposures, evaluate control effectiveness, and drive sustainable corrective actions across all assigned distribution centers.
  • Partner with Regional Directors, site leaders, and cross-functional teams to embed safety into operational processes, strengthen leadership accountability, and improve overall safety performance.
  • Lead complex incident investigations and learning reviews to identify systemic and organizational factors, ensuring effective corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.
  • Analyze safety and operational performance data to identify trends, measure risk reduction efforts, and provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Conduct regular site visits and field engagements to assess operational risk, verify critical controls, reinforce leadership presence, and promote continuous improvement.
  • Travel approximately 25% to 50%.
  • Champion a culture of learning, engagement, and accountability where team members actively identify hazards, report concerns, and contribute to risk reduction initiatives.
  • Support workers' compensation, return-to-work programs, regulatory inspections, and compliance activities while maintaining a strong focus on operational risk reduction.
  • Lead, coach, and develop safety professionals and operational leaders to build sustainable ownership of safety and strengthen leadership capabilities across the region.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Safety, or a related field required.
  • Minimum 7+ years of progressive Environmental, Health & Safety leadership experience, including at least 3 years managing safety programs across multiple locations within distribution, warehousing, logistics, manufacturing, or similarly complex operations.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
  • Proven experience leading enterprise or regional initiatives focused on SIF/pSIF prevention, critical risk management, and operational safety improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships with operational leaders and influence safety performance through collaboration rather than direct authority.
  • Advanced knowledge of risk assessment methodologies, critical control verification, incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action management.
  • Strong understanding of organizational and human performance principles, systems-based problem solving, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience analyzing complex datasets and translating trends into actionable strategies and business recommendations.
  • Strong executive presence with exceptional communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and influence leaders at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven leadership, coaching, talent development, and change management capabilities in a multi-site environment.
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred (not required).

Other Duties

  • Work afterhours as dictated by business whether mandatory or voluntary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsibility to lead, develop, and coach multiple team members in Safety Resources.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to talk or listen.
  • Occasional handling and sitting;
  • Frequent bending;
  • Constant walking and standing.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull 21–50 pounds, as well as reach above the shoulder, reach outward, squat, and kneel as needed to perform job responsibilities.

Working Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be in the main office of the Distribution Center. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
