About the role
As a Sr Safety Engineer at Valero, you will be responsible for understanding and communicating State and Federal safety regulations to refineries. Your role involves developing and implementing cost-effective compliance solutions, collaborating with other businesses within Valero, and supporting corporate Safety staff.
Responsibilities
- Understand and communicate State and Federal safety regulations to refineries.
- Develop and recommend business-driven and cost-effective strategies to comply with regulations.
- Develop and maintain safety procedures and training materials.
- Review plant modifications for safety systems and supporting documentation.
- Interact with agency inspectors to minimize negative impacts.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of refineries and processes.
- Lead opportunity projects in the most cost-effective manner.
- Work with refineries and other departments to maintain compliance and implement processes.
- Evaluate process changes and new chemicals for safety impact or compliance.
- Assist in the rolling out of safety programs and conducting safety audits.
Requirements
- Able and willing to work on-site at the Valero Ardmore Refinery.
- Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Engineering or related Science.
- 5 years of safety experience required.
- Experience representing a company to regulatory agencies.
Preferred Requirements
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
