Sr. Risk Associate - Modeling and Advanced Data Insights

About the role

The Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Modeling and Advanced Data Insights (MADI) team is modernizing how Capital One identifies potential money laundering, fraud, terrorist financing, and human trafficking through advanced analytic techniques, statistics, and machine learning models. We are seeking an energetic, self-motivated Senior Risk Associate to support MADI horizontal program management routines by championing continuous improvement and standardizing processes. The successful candidate will leverage data to tell compelling stories through dashboards and other visualization tactics.

Responsibilities

• Maintain well-managed MADI processes by ensuring MADI Site, department distro lists, and shared drive best practices reflect accurate information.
• Develop and maintain creative visual solutions using Jira data and project management tools.
• Identify day-to-day inefficiencies, conduct root cause analyses, and create actionable recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Assist in developing and maintaining reporting key performance indicators to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.
• Develop knowledge of Agile, Project Management, and Risk Management processes while supporting teams.
• Support the development and maintenance of project plans for cross-functional teams, ensuring work is planned appropriately to mitigate risk and meet delivery deadlines.
• Provide visibility into delivery targets, commitments, and ongoing progress to key stakeholders.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
• At least 2 years of Process Management experience
• At least 2 years of Project Management or Risk Management experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• 3+ years of Process Management experience
• 3+ years of Project Management or Risk Management experience
• 3+ years of experience with Tableau and Structured Query Language (SQL)

Pay

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on the agreed-upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

• McLean, VA: $96,500 - $110,100 for Sr. Risk Associate
• Richmond, VA: $87,700 - $100,100 for Sr. Risk Associate
• Wilmington, DE: $87,700 - $100,100 for Sr. Risk Associate

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location. This role is also eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long-term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non-discretionary depending on the plan.
