Sr. Research Associate, Virology
The Role
The Infectious Disease Department is seeking a self-motivated and adaptable Individual with strong experience working with murine models and in vivo related techniques to support the development of novel vaccines and therapeutics. This position will contribute across all IDR programs through the performance and development of in vivo based experiments in biosafety level 1 and 2. The candidate will support the IDR comparative medicine team interfacing with multiple functional teams within IDR. The individual will help to ensure the accurate and quality execution of in-vivo based experiments.
Here’s What You’ll Do
- Carry out technical procedural work including dosing (all major routes including intravenous, intraperitoneal and intramuscular) and collection procedures (especially blood and tissues) with laboratory animal species with expertise in mice.
- Ability to understand and operate rodent anesthesia systems and other specialized equipment such as common imaging modalities
- Process samples according to specific criteria, store and or ship appropriately.
- Aid in ensuring facility and animal housing rooms are adequately equipped and supplied.
- Work closely with research leads and the team manager to ensure quality and compliance of all in vivo based experiments.
- Maintain full compliance with regulatory requirements including protocols, SOPs, and other working documents.
- Interpret, summarize, and report on experimental data as necessary.
Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
- Minimum of 2+ yrs of relevant experience working with laboratory animal species
- Extensive experience carrying out technical procedural work involving murine models
- Demonstrates adaptability in dynamic environments with shifting priorities and timelines
- Knowledge and hands-on experience working within the regulatory frameworks for compliant in-vivo experiments
- Attention to detail, ability to think ahead and strong communication skills
- Excellent record keeping and data management with experience working in ELNs
- Familiarity with ABSL-2 working practices and procedures is preferred
- Candidate will be curious in exploring new paths for drug discovery, bold in proposing creative experimental designs and ideas.
- Will work collaboratively with multifunctional teams and will be relentless in pursuing successful outcomes.
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
- Preferred 3+ years experience working with murine models in a laboratory environment
- Demonstrated excellence in intramuscular, intravenous, intraperitoneal and other dosing routes, necropsy and blood collection
- ALAT or LAT certifications

Pay & Benefits
The salary range for this role is $74,000.00 - $118,400.00. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An individual’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and business or organizational needs.
