Job Responsibilities
- Execution of behavioral pharmacology behavior assays evaluating compounds in rat and mouse models of pain (e.g., osteoarthritis, spinal nerve ligation, chemotherapy induced neuropathy, incisional pain) and tests of neurological disorders (e.g., rotarod).
- Dosing in rats and mice via the following routes: oral (PO), intraperitoneal (IP), subcutaneous (SC), and intravenous (IV).
- Preliminary experimental data analysis.
- Adherence to SOPs and IACUC standards.
- Clear communication both written and oral to supervisor and team members.
- Occasional weekend and holiday work.
Required Qualifications
- Master's or higher degree in neuroscience or related field; recent PhD grad a plus.
- At least 2 years of laboratory and behavioral experience with mice and rats, preferably rats.
- Able to work well in a group atmosphere as well as independently.
- Good organization and troubleshooting skills.
- High level of commitment, excellent motivation to perform and to learn.
- Able to comprehend and comply with all SOPs and IACUC, safety and quality assurance protocols.
- Computer skills with Microsoft Office.
- Limited availability for night, holiday and weekend work required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with a variety of behavioral pain models and tests in rodents.
- Experience with dosing and injections used specifically in pain model studies including IA (intraarticular) and Ipl (intraplantar).
- Experience with rodent survival surgeries.
