Sr. RedHat Engineer / Technical Manager

Description

Seeking a Senior Red Hat Linux Engineer / Technical Manager to lead the enterprise RHEL platform supporting a large, enterprise healthcare environment. This is a technical leadership role—not people management.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering, lifecycle management, and reliability for an enterprise RHEL environment.

• Build, configure, patch, and upgrade RHEL systems supporting mission critical EPIC workloads.

• Develop and maintain automation using Ansible (playbooks, roles, configuration management).

• Create and maintain Bash/Python scripts to support automation, monitoring, and operational efficiency.

• Ensure uptime and performance for systems supporting thousands of concurrent EPIC users.

• Guide platform direction, influence standards, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

• Work closely with the retiring engineer to absorb institutional knowledge and ensure continuity.

• Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong hands on experience with RHEL administration, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
  • Experience with Ansible for automation, configuration management, or infrastructure-as-code.
  • Proficiency in Bash; Python scripting is a strong plus.
  • Background supporting large, high availability environments with strict SLAs.
  • Experience with enterprise virtualization platforms (VMware or similar).
  • General understanding of SAN concepts (IBM SVC experience is a plus, not required).

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Rochester, NY.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $58.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
