Sr RAN Optimization Engineer

Responsibilities

• Oversee a team of RF engineers and perform RF network planning and optimization activities during network rollout phase.
• Work independently to troubleshoot and improve KPIs in Nokia & Ericsson systems, focusing on 5G/LTE networks.
• Provide 5G optimization covering Sub6, DSS, mmWave, and VONR (Voice over New Radio).
• Perform RF performance activities, analyzing 4G/5G data and voice VOLTE services in customer projects.
• Conduct analysis of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), investigate and improve network capacity & quality issues.
• Implement new features and tune 5G/4G (LTE) radio network parameters.
• Implement new RAN (Radio Access Network) features and tune RAN database parameters.
• Analyze neighbor relations and implement corrections.
• Perform radio propagation planning, optimize coverage footprint, signal quality, and candidate selection reviews for new sites.
• Create site plumbing design diagrams, file E911/FCC regulatory approvals, and manage design-related projects.
• Lead radio planning and optimization teams for small groups of engineers.
• Interface with customers to provide network design and performance-related services according to the solutions portfolio.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related discipline, with at least six years of related experience, or
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related discipline, with at least eight years of related experience.
• Experience with antennas for various bands, including mmWave, CBand, PCS, AWS, and low band of cellular communication operations and Distributed Antenna System (DAS) design & optimization.
• Experience with large venue stadium, Indoor Arena DAS design-implementation-optimization, Beamforming, MassiveMIMO, Baseband, Radios, NR & LTE air interface architecture, and 5G protocol and radio interference algorithms.
• Experience with load balancing across carriers, Carrier Aggregation techniques across carriers, 4G & 5G voice Network (including VOLTE and VONR), operational algorithm design and optimization, air interface capacity and coverage evaluation and improvement techniques.
• Experience with 5G Core and transport network architecture, 5G NSA (non-standalone), SA (stand-alone) principles algorithms for multiple vendor equipment, and 5G oRAN architecture and operation algorithms.
• Experience with platforms of Network tools for major radio vendors including ENM, OSS, Atoll, NetAct, Excel, and Scripting.
