About the role
Join our team as a Sr. PSM Specialist and play a key role in advancing a best-in-class Process Safety Management program. You’ll own PSM program elements, ensure compliance, and collaborate cross-functionally to strengthen safety and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Drive compliance with OSHA's Process Safety Management Standard, EPA's Chemical Accident Prevention Provision Risk Management Plan (RMP) regulation and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Consult and coach leaders to ensure environmental, health and safety (EHS) policies/procedures and support the EHS department to ensure OSHA and EPA compliance at all times.
- Update, manage, coordinate, and implement all fourteen (14) elements programs of the OSHA Process Safety Management standard and the additional requirements of EPA Risk Management Plan regulation.
- Facilitate the facility’s Risk Management Plan documentation, updates, and maintenance as required, including submissions and renewals to meet EPA requirements.
- Facilitate and document the PHA/hazard evaluations for initial PHAs, revalidations, revisions, and projects.
- Lead and facilitate PSM/RMP incident investigations and root cause analyses, often specific to refrigeration and ammonia systems, updating reports and submittals as required by OSHA and EPA including RMP updates.
- Work with site leadership and EHS Department to ensure emergency planning and response procedures are developed and maintained as required.
- Support the Facility Hazmat team and may serve as a HazMat team member where applicable.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Safety, Environmental, Safety Science, Engineering, or related area.
- 5+ years of related experience, ideally within an environment that utilizes ammonia refrigeration.
- Knowledge of State/Federal EPA and OSHA compliance requirements, and of regulatory requirements, procedures, and legislative processes.
- Experience in PSM, Ammonia refrigeration systems, and implementing safety programs in manufacturing and agricultural environments.
- Experience in hazard evaluation techniques such as Hazard Identification (HazID), What-If, Hazard and Operability (HazOp), Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) and others as needed.
Pay
The base salary range for this position is $75,000 to $125,000 annually, with eligibility for a 10% annual incentive bonus based on organizational performance. The range reflects factors such as experience, skills, education, certifications, and location, and starting salary may fall anywhere within the stated range.
