About the role
In this remote role, you will lead complex, enterprise-wide initiatives that drive operational excellence and support the delivery of critical services to Veterans and transitioning service members. This position plays a key role within the Project Management Office (PMO), partnering with executive leadership, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to ensure strategic initiatives are successfully governed, prioritized, and delivered. This is an opportunity for a seasoned PMO professional who can balance strategic oversight with hands-on execution while managing competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex, enterprise-wide initiatives that drive operational excellence and support the delivery of critical services to Veterans and transitioning service members.
- Partner with executive leadership, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to ensure strategic initiatives are successfully governed, prioritized, and delivered.
- Balance strategic oversight with hands-on execution while managing competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Oversee PMO operations, governance frameworks, project portfolios, and strategic initiatives.
- Manage cross-functional programs involving multiple business units and executive stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement, operational excellence, and project management maturity.
- Facilitate executive governance boards, steering committees, and leadership reviews.
- Establish and lead governance frameworks, intake and prioritization processes, portfolio reporting, and drive consistency across project and program delivery.
Qualifications
- Significant experience leading large-scale, enterprise-level programs and initiatives within a structured PMO environment.
- Demonstrated success managing PMO operations, governance frameworks, project portfolios, and strategic initiatives.
- Experience overseeing cross-functional programs involving multiple business units and executive stakeholders.
- Strong background in portfolio management, resource management, capacity planning, and project prioritization.
- Proven ability to drive continuous improvement, operational excellence, and project management maturity.
- Experience facilitating executive governance boards, steering committees, and leadership reviews.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive presentation skills.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies, governance practices, and portfolio management principles.
- Clear ownership of PMO governance, portfolio management, resource management, and enterprise oversight functions on your resume.
- Experience establishing and leading governance frameworks, intake and prioritization processes, portfolio reporting, and driving consistency across project and program delivery.
Preferred qualifications
- PMP, PgMP, PMI-ACP, or related certifications preferred.
- Experience limited primarily to project execution or implementation management without broader PMO governance responsibility is less closely aligned to the needs of this role.
