Sr Project Manager

About the role

The Senior Project Manager (SDLC Software Development) Education Practice Area at Public Consulting Group (PCG) is responsible for managing technology projects, from small to large scale, ensuring project outcomes, and providing after-hours support and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Deliver software development and implementations, and production support using project management best practices and formal systems development life cycle processes.
• Manage technology projects, from small to large scale ($100,000 to $3,000,000+).
• Manage scope, time, cost, quality, resource, communications, risk/issue, procurement, stakeholder, and systems development life cycle processes.
• Provide hands-on project management and support for multiple projects across the practice area in accordance with the strategic vision set forth by the Project Management Office (PMO).
• Mediate disagreements and drive consensus-oriented outcomes.
• Adjust communication styles to manage different personalities and expectations, upward and downward.
• Identify and address team or stakeholder conflicts early to prevent escalation.
• Build and maintain schedules using MS Project.
• Proactively and effectively communicate and influence outcomes with clients, project teams, and staff.
• Lead team members in a matrixed organization where team members do not formally report directly to the project manager.
• Apply advanced problem-solving techniques (root cause analysis, alternatives, and solutions).
• Build trusting relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
• Own and be accountable for project outcomes, including successes and failures.
• Translate complex information into clear, actionable results.
• Provide after-hours support and travel, as required.

Requirements

• Proven experience in RFP responses, proposal development, and contract drafting, review, and management.
• Build trusting relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
• Proficiency in managing software development projects through the entire SDLC.
• Ownership and accountability of project outcomes, including successes and failures.
• Primary liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders, translating complex information into clear, actionable results.
• Proactive and effective communication and influence outcomes with clients, project teams, and staff.
• Identify and address team or stakeholder conflicts early to prevent escalation.
• Mediate disagreements and drive consensus-oriented outcomes.
• Inspire and motivate team members while maintaining accountability for deliverables.
• Build and maintain schedules using MS Project.
• Profound knowledge of technology solutions and extensive experience within the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Knowledge of K-12 education technology solutions (nice to have).
• Education consulting experience (nice to have).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 8+ years of experience in formal project management, managing software development of complex, multi-year projects.
• Knowledge of technology solutions and extensive experience within the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Project Management Certification (PMP).
• Knowledge of K-12 education technology solutions (nice to have).
• Education consulting experience (nice to have).

Pay

$93,500 - $140,000

Schedule

This position is hybrid with travel/onsite requirements.
