Seat open due to promotion. Direct leadership of a PM/APM team with broad authority over project finances, schedule, and scope. Publicly traded parent company offers an Employee Stock Purchase Plan and profit sharing.

About us

We are a national commercial and industrial construction contractor operating inside a larger publicly traded organization founded nearly a century ago. Our specialty exteriors group self-performs roofing and siding work for commercial and industrial clients nationwide, alongside sister lines in insulation and scaffolding. You get the resources and stability of a large parent with the decision speed and visibility of a small shop. Tenure here is long: our project management leadership has been with us well over a decade, and this role exists only because the person in it was promoted into a director role on another business line. We recently landed a significant volume of new national work and are hiring ahead of that growth.

Why join us

  • 20% annual incentive on top of base that has historically paid at target and can run higher—there has never been a year with no payout
  • Broad autonomy and decision-making authority over project finances, schedule, and scope
  • Publicly traded parent with an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, profit sharing, and 401(k) match, so your upside isn’t limited to base and bonus
  • A hiring manager with 16 years in this business who will teach you the specialty if you come from adjacent commercial or industrial work
  • A backlog of newly awarded national projects, meaning you write the team’s playbook during expansion instead of stabilizing a shrinking one
  • Day-to-day flexibility inside an onsite-collaborative culture (shared calendar for work-from-home days) with light travel, roughly 2-3 days a month

Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Invest genuinely in the development, wellbeing, and success of every team member, and build a culture that supports the vision, values, strategy, and business objectives of the organization

  • Own talent strategy for the project management team, including project managers and construction managers; expand the team’s capabilities by establishing best practices, policies, and processes, and lead hiring decisions for new team members
  • Partner with the Director of Field Operations and field leadership to drive best-in-class project execution with safety first in every decision
  • Lead lessons-learned and continuous improvement initiatives that shape how the PM team operates

  • Forecast and manage staffing, manpower, and crew mix to optimize productivity and support long-range project planning
  • Gather and report project data supporting site supervision, project management, leadership, and audit compliance
  • Own project financial health by monitoring billings, collections, cash flow, and cost against budget on assigned projects, and provide oversight of financial health across projects managed by direct reports
  • Manage the full subcontractor lifecycle including bid solicitation, evaluation and selection, prequalification, onboarding, contract review, and execution oversight to ensure performance, compliance, and scope accountability
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for customers; engage regularly to provide project status, lead and attend project meetings, deliver consistent progress reporting, and maintain historical project records for future reference
  • Own strategic relationships on key accounts, including executive-level communication
  • Conduct post-project evaluations and recommend improvements to project management procedures and company business practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or similar field preferred
  • 10+ years of project management experience in the construction industry, with demonstrated experience leading and developing other project managers

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software
  • Thorough understanding of contracts, drawings, schedules, and specifications
  • Ability to remain flexible and efficient in a fast-paced environment, make sound decisions under pressure, and manage multiple priorities while solving problems
