Sr Project Engineer - Electronics
Basic Function
The Sr Project Engineer, Electronics is responsible for:
- developing electronic circuit board layouts of moderately broad scope including mixed signal, microcontroller-based controllers, power converters and radio frequency applications
- developing and maintaining department subject matter expertise and best practices in circuit board design and assembly technologies
- participating in electronics hardware design peer reviews
- analyzing and resolving vendor component change and obsolescence notifications
- maintaining production drawings and data for all electronic circuit board assemblies
Specific Responsibilities
- Develop circuit board assembly designs to meet electrical and mechanical requirements, including third-party certification and industry standards
- Maintain the database of electronic components and circuit board footprints including approved vendor part numbers
- Use and develop circuit board assembly design best practices including risk assessment, design for environment and design for manufacture
- Develop and maintain electronic circuit board design files and drawings to support new product design projects
- Work in a cross-functional team environment to analyze and mitigate component change and obsolescence issues
- Use standard electronics laboratory tools including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, DMM to analyze, debug and document proper operation of existing electronic circuits and systems
- Work in a cross-functional team environment to analyze and mitigate electronics circuit board assembly production issues
- Meet with vendors and internal customers to discuss, document and solve technical issues related to electronic circuit board assemblies
Education & Experience
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering from ABET accredited program
- 4+ years of experience designing circuit boards for industrial controllers that meet FCC, UL, CSA and CE requirements
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering and 4+ years of related work experience
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering and M.S. in Electrical Engineering and 2+ years of related work experience
Traits of the Ideal Candidate
- Excellent abstract reasoning and problem-solving skills, with capability of documenting problem solving process and data used to make decisions
- Experience laying out high speed memory buses in controlled impedance layout designs to meet timing tolerances of high-speed microprocessors and memory devices
- Experience optimizing EMC test performance of high-speed circuits to meet regulatory and design requirements
- A working knowledge of current technologies used in circuit board design and manufacturing processes and capabilities
- A working knowledge of the IPC-A-610 standard
- Experience in Design for Environment and Design for Manufacturing processes

Pay Range
The Salary range for this position is $89,800.00-$114,100.00. The specific Salary rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
