About the role
HGA is an award-winning architecture, engineering, and planning firm seeking a Senior Electrical Project Engineer to join our team in California. The ideal candidate will lead a team of electrical engineers, designers, and BIM specialists, contributing to dynamic, interdisciplinary project teams and shaping high-performance, forward-thinking environments across various building types.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of electrical engineers, designers and BIM specialists
- Write scopes of work for electrical design based on preliminary review and meetings with the client
- Prepare workplans for design teams based on project scope and team member skillsets
- Assess the requirements of a project, break a project into tasks and work with the design team to determine scope, budget, and staffing
- Prepare engineering opinion of probable cost for electrical systems and review contractor cost estimates
- Be skilled in electrical design, with expertise in collaborating with owners to define the Owner’s project requirements, conducting building load calculations, analyzing power distribution, sizing equipment, and editing specifications
- Prepare engineering studies and schematic design for new systems and analyze operation of existing systems
- Present complex engineering analysis clearly and effectively to owner and design teams
- Review drawings and documents to assure compliance with company design and production standards
- Avoidance of conflicts with the code compliance, Owner’s requirements, design standards and the quality expectations of HGA
- Work with building performance team to design and integrate alternative energy sources into the electrical distribution to create sustainable designs
- Absorb responsibility for Revit production
- Absorb responsibility for the education and development of design staff and function as a resource for questions
Requirements
- BS or MS degree in electrical engineering
- 15+ years of experience in the design of power systems for healthcare, commercial, cultural, government, industrial, higher education, and campus energy system projects that support our 8 market segments
- Professional licensure is required
- Documented experience with a consulting engineering firm or A/E firm providing electrical design
- Expertise in National Fire Protection Association Codes (NFPA) and an understanding of applicable (city, state, federal) requirements (such as Title 24 DSA, and HCAI)
- Working knowledge of Revit
- Familiarity with electrical analysis software (i.e., SKM, Easy Power, Helioscope)
- Knowledge of the current sustainable technologies applicable to the design of commercial electrical systems

Pay
The salary range for this position is $129,900 - $158,800 depending on qualifications and experience. Employees who work more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA's robust benefit programs.
