About the role

The Senior Project Engineer oversees capital projects while managing and monitoring all aspects of the project, including planning, designing, budgeting, installing, and managing contractors and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Director of Engineering and provide regular updates on project status, opportunities for improvement, budget status, and potential issues affecting cost or schedule.
  • Provide project leadership to achieve high levels of safety, cost control, quality, engineering, procurement, construction, and team dynamics.
  • Establish project budgets, track job costs, and manage project closeout.
  • Prepare, schedule, coordinate, monitor, and manage assigned engineering projects involving multiple disciplines.
  • Serve as project manager for planned and unplanned responsibilities, including scope development, detailed design, budget development, contractor selection, and project execution oversight.
  • Develop scope of work documents, cost estimates, and schedules for multiple capital projects simultaneously.
  • Predict and manage resources effectively to reach project objectives.
  • Conduct cost analysis and estimate expected project costs.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, industry, contractual, and company regulations, standards, specifications, and best practices.
  • Interpret internal customer needs and represent them in the field.
  • Develop strong working relationships with co-workers, facility managers, consultants, and contractors.
  • Make onsite visits to coordinate with contractors throughout project development and implementation.
  • Inform the project team and contractors promptly of any construction schedule changes and ensure requirements are met.
  • Utilize approved consulting engineers for stamped drawings and technical details.
  • Identify and develop engineering plans for sustainability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management (preferred) or a related field.
  • 10 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 5 years of project management experience within the industry or related fields.
  • Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, BIM, and Navisworks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally at all organizational levels, with contractors, and other engineers.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple projects, plan effectively, and maintain high attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage time wisely and balance workload.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities.

Safety Requirements

  • Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs.
  • Wear required protective equipment in all mandatory areas.

Physical Requirements

  • Willingness to travel weekly.
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work in multiple environments (cold, humid, dry, dusty).
