About the role
We have an immediate opening for a Fleet Remediation Senior Project Design Electrical Engineer in the IAD region. As An Amazon Fleet Remediation Senior Project Design Engineer, You Will Lead Design Projects In Operational Data Centers, That Remediate Issues, Upgrade Our Existing Infrastructure Or Add New Services. You Will Be The 'go-to' Engineering Resource For These Projects And Will Provide Lifecycle Support From Design Through Implementation. You Will Use Your Electrical Expertise To Own the design for existing data center upgrades and design-solutions which add data center infrastructure, capacity, improve availability, and/or increase sustainability.
Responsibilities
- Lead design projects in operational data centers that remediate issues, upgrade existing infrastructure, or add new services.
- Provide lifecycle support from design through implementation.
- Use electrical expertise to own the design for existing data center upgrades and design solutions that add data center infrastructure, capacity, improve availability, and/or increase sustainability.
- Perform design and equipment submittal reviews for data centers in your region.
- Interface with internal and external data center design engineering teams, server hardware teams, environmental health and safety teams, field engineering, and controls engineering to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered.
- Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.
- Act as a technical subject matter expert for your given discipline during new remediation projects.
- Support construction, commissioning, operations, and turnover.
Requirements
- Possess strong engineering judgement and are able to provide design and recommendations despite uncertainty.
- Be detail and data oriented with familiarity with design/construction processes.
- Have experience managing engineering projects and engineering consultants.
- Build trust and relationships with different stakeholders (e.g., Operations, Commissioning, Construction and Design).
- Manage design and as-built drawings and documents.
- Prepare and present progress reports to all relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities.
- Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
- Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
