About the role
The Sr. Project Accountant plays a crucial part in financial reporting, focusing on project accounting, POC accounting, monthly and balance sheet reconciliations, and audit support. This role involves managing the project accounting lifecycle, ensuring compliance with corporate policies, and supporting internal and external audits.
Responsibilities
- Manage project accounting from creation to completion, collaborating with the project execution team.
- Oversee the POC revenue recognition process, ensuring compliance with corporate policies to determine cost-to-complete, loss reserves, BIE-CIE, segmentation, etc.
- Audit and control financial models to ensure continuous and accurate reporting on jobs in progress.
- Prepare and issue accurate and timely weekly and monthly project reports, monitor and correct project cost segmentation, and maintain contract modifications.
- Support month-end and year-end close activities, document and maintain financial processes and procedures, and provide transactional and competitive feedback.
- Participate in teams to improve processes and performance, lead cross-functional teams, and utilize six sigma and lean methodologies and tools.
- Drive productivity and process improvements, advise senior management on non-standard contractual issues, and manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
- Communicate effectively with non-finance professionals and work closely with the Application Engineering and Sales team.
Requirements
- Thorough understanding of accounting principles and techniques.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with ERP system within project accounting module.
- Strong time management skills.
- Prioritize multiple projects and tasks.
- Effective communication and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and team environment skills.
Qualifications
- Financial experience in project accounting using the percentage-of-completion (POC) method, construction, and bid analysis.
- Experience in the manufacturing industry or project-based environments.
- Previous project management accounting or technical experience.
- International experience preferred.
