About the role

The Senior Production Technician is responsible for performing advanced technical work within their assigned production area (e.g., Surfacing, Finishing, or Coating) while also supporting cross-training and coverage across other areas as needed. This role provides technical expertise, troubleshooting, and mentoring to junior team members, ensuring high-quality production of prescription eyewear in compliance with EssilorLuxottica standards.

Responsibilities

  • Performs advanced technical processes, calibrations, preventive maintenance, safety checks, and conformance testing to ensure consistent quality within the assigned production area.
  • Troubleshoots equipment and workflow issues, leads root cause analysis, and recommends corrective actions.
  • Segregates and documents non-conforming product, ensuring corrective measures are applied to maintain quality standards.
  • Provides on-the-job training, coaching, and mentoring to Associates and Production Technicians.
  • Maintains flexibility to support and cross-train in other production areas (Surfacing, Finishing, Coating) when required.
  • Works at Technician levels (Associate, Production, and Senior) within surface and/or bench, as needed.
  • Supports and implements process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Ensures compliance with safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and company standards.
  • Maintains accurate records of production, maintenance, and quality control activities.
  • Acts as a role model by promoting a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in an optical lab, manufacturing, or related technical environment, including at least 2 years at the Production Technician level.
  • Proven ability to operate and troubleshoot equipment across multiple production areas.
  • Completion of training in at least five qualified functions, including:
    • Two (2) functions at the Senior Production Technician level,
    • One (1) function at the Production Technician level (or higher),
    • Two (2) functions at the Associate Production Technician level (or higher).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, depth perception, and manual dexterity.
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and coaching skills.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with commitment to quality and compliance.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.

Pay

Pay range: $20.04 - $30.58 per hour. Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills, and local minimum wage requirements. In addition, you may also be offered a competitive bonus and/or commission plan.
