Sr Principal Airfield Engineer

About the Role

RS&H is seeking a senior principal civil airfield engineer to join the infrastructure team. This position will have the ability to work a hybrid schedule of in-office and remote.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a discipline leader, subject matter expert, and technical resource for discipline and related program activities
• Participate in discipline quality improvement and assurance activities
• Manage unique problems that are abstract in nature and span across disciplines and/or businesses
• Define project elements and processes required to meet client needs
• Participate in and coordinate preparation of bids
• Promote and maintain client relationships
• Oversee performance to contracts through shared planning and monitoring of work orders and deliverables with engineering, construction, and various other disciplines
• Lead projects, including major projects with complex elements and a broad scope of responsibilities
• Coordinate with project management to execute project plans and directly supervise the teams' design and technical delivery
• Present directly to the client on technical and design solutions and serve as a firm ambassador to win new work
• Recommend and implement strategies in support of long-term goals and objectives
• Serve as a thought leader inside and outside the firm
• Lead the development and application of company-wide standard operating procedures and technical requirements for projects and discipline deliverables
• Manage a small team of direct reports

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program and 20 years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Professional engineer in good standing
• Knowledgeable of applicable federal, state and local codes, criteria, regulations, and ordinances
• Proficient in production software and construction document production
• Proven background and ability to make decisions that have significant impact to an organization, as well as recommend operational strategies and plans with direct impact on results
• Recognized as a thought leader in the industry
• Experience leading the development and implementation of new services, processes, standards, or operational plans with significant impact on the achievement of results
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to communicate with senior leadership on matters of strategic importance
• Ability to effectively interact with and build strong relationships with clients, customers, contractors, team members, and other key stakeholders
