Sr / Prin Mammography Technologist, Per Diem (Sign-on bonus eligible)
About the role
A CRT licensed Mammography Technologist performing screening and diagnostic breast imaging and procedures. The Technologist produces ACR quality images in both diagnostic and screening exams. This technologist is able to interact with clinicians and other departments to coordinate patient care. The Technologist ensures clinical data is correct and appropriate in the Radiology Information System (RIS) and PACS systems. The technologist must participate in performance improvement activities in the department. Additionally, the Mammography Technologist must be willing to train and interact with students and new hires when necessary.

- Produces ACR quality images following established departmental protocols to include technique, views, positioning, proper labeling and patient identification. Properly prepares room, equipment and contrast media as needed to assist Radiologist. Properly troubleshoots equipment failures, documents and reports to the appropriate individual. Prepares patient for imaging. Identifies self, explains the procedure and confirms patient identification, and properly reviews exam requisition through the radiology information system, and or the hospital electronic order entry systems before imaging. Properly carry out daily quality assurance procedure in accordance with MQSA accreditation compliance. Work safely and effectively with ancillary and procedural staff in the mammography environment and participates in the timeout procedure.
- Maintains constant communication with patients as well as fellow staff involved with the exam. Presents oneself in a professional manner and with a positive demeanor to all patients, co-workers, physicians and departments. Under supervision performs breast imaging procedures.
- Information Management
- Ensures clinical data is correct and appropriate for specific procedures being requested, completes all exams in the radiology computer system and up and/or Mammography computer systems, Radiology PAC’s System. Adheres to HIPAA policies and procedures.
- Performance Improvement
- Participate in related performance improvement projects for the department and hospital.
- Budgetary
- Maintains use of supplies and routinely checks expiration of supplies. Adheres to the productivity monitors for the department. Assures patient information and billing codes are correct. Identifies opportunities for cost containment.
Qualifications
- REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of a JCERT radiology technology training program. Flexibility in scheduling, with the ability to rotate shifts and coverage for weekends and holidays. Must be willing to assist at any of the UCSF Medical Center Locations. Minimum of 3 years of Mammography experience required for senior level classification. Minimum 7 years of Mammography experience required for principal level classification. Ability to performs job duties in a reliable, responsible and timely fashion. Ability to work effectively and efficiently under any workload and/or patient volume. Ability to be respectful of everyone, including those of different backgrounds, beliefs and gender. Knowledge of Radiology Information System and related downtime procedure, to include the proper scheduling and completion of patient exams. Knowledge of the Medical Centers’ current Electronic Health record and ordering systems. Knowledge of the related Breast Imaging systems and selects the correct patient and exam from worklists. Knowledge of the Incident Reporting System Leadership skills. Ability to prioritize and complete tasks, needing little or no supervision.

- ARRT (R) (M) Prefer breast ultrasound experience CRT Fluoroscopy License
- REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
- CRT (M) Mammography Certification CRT (R) Radiologic Technologist Certification BLS Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification Requires proof of mammography - specific training of at least 40 documented hours, if certified after April 27, 1999. Requires proof of having performed at least 200 mammography exams in the last 24 months (rolling 24-month calendar). Requires certificates of at least 15 CEU's in Mammography in the last 36-month period (rolling 36 month calendar). Requires proof of MQSA approved 8 hours each of Digital and 3D Tomosynthesis training. Proof of initial 25 supervised mammograms

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF.
