Key Responsibilities
- Evaluates and implements appropriate care under the direction of the Radiologist and AZDHS.
- Administers ionizing radiation for diagnosis, including positioning the x-ray beam, anatomical positioning, selecting exposure factors, and initiating exposure.
- Selects the most appropriate patient care plan based on review of all pertinent data and assessment of the patient's abilities and condition.
- Selects appropriate shielding devices and immobilization devices, and assesses factors that may contraindicate the procedure.
- Able to recognize significant clinical information and historical facts impacting the examination.
- Maintains patient and equipment during procedures, accurately documenting exam times, patient reactions or problems, and reporting concerns immediately to the supervisor.
- Documents patient and exam occurrences in the appropriate Imaging software database.
Quality of Care
- Provides evidence-based care to prevent Healthcare Acquired Conditions and hospital readmissions.
- P Practices standard precautions during patient contact and handling contaminated materials.
- Complies with CDC hand hygiene guidelines to reduce hospital-acquired infections and other conditions.
Qualifications
- Required Education: Graduate of an ARRT Program.
- Required Certification: BLS through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Licensure: Current registration and licensure by the ARRT and AZDHS.
- Preferences: Education from an ARRT, JCERT, or ACR approved educational institution.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of mammography technologist experience performing digital mammography.
- Special Position Requirements: Exposure Categories: Category II, able to manage technical equipment, assist with patient movement, care for patients with infectious diseases, and maintain concentration and visual/auditory acuity.
