Responsibilities
- Performs diagnostic and screening mammographic examinations on adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients in an expedient and professional manner.
- Performs all mammographic imaging procedures as trained.
- Selects immobilization devices, selects proper technical factors based on individual patient needs, and operates equipment for specific procedures.
- Assists with quality control procedures and documents of phantom image, repeat analysis, calibration test, Geometry calibration, diagnostic review workstation QC, compression test, visual machine checks, view box calibration test, artifact test, CNR/SNR testing, and reviewing condition, as delegated by the leadership.
- Compiles statistics for patient follow-ups, tracks of breast localizations, biopsy recommendations, and follows up on positive biopsy reports.
- Documents procedures regarding quality control and quality assurance for mammography in compliance with ACR, MQSA, NJ State, and FDA.
- Ensures proper use of the Faxitron system. Documents in EMR (EPIC) any pertinent information regarding patients.
- Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). Communicates with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
- Ensures rooms are stocked and kept in an orderly manner.
- Ensures proper labeling of specimen images.
- Tracks the location of the patient in Epic during the Breast Center visit.
- Ensures appropriate procedures are begun and ended in a timely manner.
- Recognize equipment technical errors and initiate corrective action.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
- Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs. and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.
Qualifications
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
- Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology.
- Must be able to meet the requirements for the National Registry (ARRT) and pass the examination.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
