Responsibilities
- Fulfills ACR quality image production following departmental protocols.
- Ensures proper preparation of room, equipment, and contrast media.
- Properly troubleshoots equipment failures and documents issues.
- Prepares patients for imaging and reviews exam requisitions.
- Carries out daily quality assurance procedures.
- Participates in the timeout procedure and maintains constant communication with patients.
- Trains and interacts with students and new hires as necessary.
- Works safely and collaboratively with ancillary and procedural staff.
- Completes clinical data accurately and appropriately in the RIS and PACS systems.
- Ensures compliance with hospital and department policies and procedures.
- Attends staff development activities and professional meetings.
- Participates in performance improvement projects.
- Maintains inventory of supplies and ensures patient information and billing codes are correct.
- Identifies opportunities for cost containment.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of Mammography experience (Prin level), or 3 years of Mammography experience (Sr. level).
- Graduate of a JCERT radiology technology training program.
- Flexibility in scheduling, ability to rotate shifts and cover weekends and holidays.
- Willingness to assist at any UCSF Medical Center location.
- CRT (M) Mammography Certification, CRT (R) Radiologic Technologist Certification, BLS Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification.
- Proof of mammography-specific training of at least 40 documented hours, if certified after April 27, 1999.
- Proof of performing at least 200 mammography exams in the last 24 months (rolling 24-month calendar).
- Certificates of at least 15 CEU's in Mammography in the last 36-month period (rolling 36 month calendar).
- Proof of MQSA approved 8 hours each of Digital and 3D Tomosynthesis training.
- Proof of initial 25 supervised mammograms.
- Prioritize and complete tasks independently.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, under any workload and patient volume.
- Knowledge of Radiology Information System, Electronic Health Record, and related systems.
- Leadership skills and ability to mentor students and new hires.
