Mammography Tech (Per Diem)
About the role
The mammography technologist is responsible for the independent operation of x-ray equipment, using knowledge of positioning patients, general anatomy and physiology, and to record and present images to be reviewed by the Radiologist. They perform a variety of technical procedures in the scope of their position which may include screening and diagnostic mammograms, to include 2D and 3D (tomosynthesis), dexa scans, galactograms, needle localizations, mammogram-guided biopsies and stereotactic biopsy procedures.
Responsibilities
- Operate x-ray equipment independently
- Position patients for imaging
- Record and present images for radiologist review
- Perform various technical procedures including mammograms, dexa scans, galactograms, needle localizations, mammogram-guided biopsies, and stereotactic biopsy procedures
Requirements
- Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with certification in Mammography
- Licensed by State of Louisiana in Radiologic Technology
- Current BLS certification through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross
- Maintain compliance with the CE and exams performed requirements of their certifying organization
- Work in a fast-paced environment with patients of all types and ages
- Possess strong guest relations skills
- Maintain a high standard of medical ethics at all times
- Self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve
Qualifications
- Experience in mammography preferred
- EPIC experience a plus
Skills
Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
