Robert Half is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist for a contract-to-hire opportunity with a well-established organization. This role is ideal for a payroll professional with extensive experience managing complex payroll functions across multiple states, union environments, certified payroll requirements, and Canadian payroll processing.
Responsibilities
- Process full-cycle multi-state payroll for hourly and salaried employees.
- Administer and maintain union payrolls, ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
- Process certified payrolls, including compliance with Davis-Bacon prevailing wage requirements.
- Prepare and submit payroll reporting through LCP Tracker.
- Process and maintain Canadian payrolls in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Manage payroll deductions including garnishments, child support orders, tax levies, and wage attachments.
- Audit payroll transactions for accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Reconcile payroll data, deductions, taxes, and benefits.
- Prepare payroll reports and support internal and external audits.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and payroll-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and Canadian payroll regulations.
Requirements
- 5+ years of payroll experience with demonstrated expertise in complex payroll processing.
- Strong working knowledge of all phases of multi-state payroll administration.
- Experience processing union payrolls, certified payrolls, garnishments, child support, and Canadian payrolls.
- Thorough understanding of Davis-Bacon and prevailing wage requirements.
- Hands-on experience with LCP Tracker.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong understanding of payroll tax laws and compliance requirements.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
Qualifications
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred.
- Experience in construction, engineering, manufacturing, or other industries with certified payroll requirements.
- Experience with payroll and HRIS systems.
