About the role

The Sr NPD Project Engineer will support product realization through cross-functional team collaboration. Responsible for managing portions of the new product design process.

Responsibilities

  • Leading portions of the design process, completing assigned tasks, assisting other members of the team, and helping to ensure project completion in accordance with the schedule.
  • Developing schedules, coordinating and managing low complexity projects of with little to no supervision.
  • Preparing budgets and defining resource needs for projects or parts of projects in area of responsibility.
  • Aiding in the completion of the Product Realization Stage Gate Requirements.
  • Ensuring that project meets requirements of specifications and standards, while promoting error-proof assembly.
  • Creating project plans and completing inside and outside programs.
  • Constructing and prototyping components or assemblies as required in the development and approval process.
  • Reviewing data and ensuring that sing is in line with the project plan and pre-s calculations and meets or exceeds G&W requirements.
  • Performing engineering analysis in the design of new products and their subcomponents.
  • Conducting formal root cause analysis and troubleshooting on the new and existing products and processes.
  • Preparing written documentation of processes, material requirements, project results and activity as required.
  • Interacting with purchasing and vendors in the selection and approval of component parts and assemblies.
  • Providing Engineering support to Sales/Marketing and Manufacturing on new and existing products and processes.
  • Consulting with Customer representatives to discuss product requirements and specifications when design or manufacturing problems are involved.
  • Giving direction to supporting personnel such as Engineers, Designers, and Technicians.
  • Following established procedures for creation and maintenance of CAD databases and libraries.
  • Participating in the review of engineering drawings prior to the release to manufacture. Ensuring final approval of applicable drawings.
  • Ensuring that selected parts and processes meet project and company goals for cost efficiency and reliability.
  • Performing other duties as assigned possibly.

    Requirements

    • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
    • 5+ years progressive experience in Engineering design and/or development to include:
      • Experience working on highly technical and innovative projects with demonstrated ability to be constantly challenged with new problems.
      • Experience with 3D parametric modeling.
      • Experience with running finite element modeling and checking design feasibility within mechanical, thermal and multi-physics environment.
      • Strong technical knowledge required in mechanism design, linkages, springs, statics, dynamics and material properties.
      • Familiarity with various manufacturing methods to include casting, machining, molding, stamping and forming.
      • Familiarity with new product development Stage Gate Process.
      • The ability to write technical documents, like S reports, engineering standards and technical papers.
      • The ability to read and interpret technical standards.
      • The ability to effectively communicate (verbal, written, presentations) across all levels of the organization.
      • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
      • Experience with DFMEA and DOE.
      • Experience with GD&T and tolerance stack up analysis.
      • The ability to use small hand and power tools.
      • ProE/Creo and Finite Element analysis.
      • A history of creativity, innovation, and initiative.
      • Experience in medium/high voltage electrical power systems.
      • Experience with trip free, stored energy or actuated mechanism design.

    Qualifications

    Benefits

    Typical pay is $115,000 - 145,000 annually. Please note the pay information shown above is a general guideline. Pay is based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications.
