Sr. New Product Lead, Tech, Robotics Supply Chain

About the role

We are seeking a Robotics Supply Chain New Product Lead - Tech to tackle the most critical, technologically advanced products at Amazon. The Lead will be responsible for a small portfolio of robotic products and accountable for supplier and supply chain strategies, product cost roadmaps, enabling rapid NPI builds, and ensuring a successful ramp to mass production. This role manages products from concept, through development, to scaled deployment, working with senior product and engineering leaders to drive trade-offs between commercial and technical constraints, risks, and goals.

Essential to the role is technical subject matter expertise to collaborate effectively with technical teams developing robotic products. This includes understanding technologies and architectures of robotic products, key commodities, and their development and integration strategies. The role contributes to technical strategies and decisions, balancing technical and business requirements to drive engineering teams toward scalable products that achieve Amazon’s cost targets.

The RSC New Product Lead - Tech is a trusted subject matter expert who communicates with stakeholders at all levels, advocates for commercial opportunities, and influences measurable business outcomes. This role requires a strong business owner who can deliver results in a fast-paced environment where new products and features are typically measured in months.

Responsibilities

• Lead a cross-functional supply chain team dedicated to supplier and supply chain design, sourcing, logistics decisions, and execution for robotics products from concept to scaled deployment.
• Act as the single point of contact for program resources to communicate supply chain decisions, progress, and implications of program changes, and support financial planning and capital approvals.
• Partner with Robotics leadership to ensure collaboration between Supply Chain, hardware engineering, operations, and program teams on commodity and supplier selection, cost performance trade-offs, cost roadmap development, and enabling rapid product development stages.
• Define and approve Product-level Supply Chain Strategy documents, including identification of critical components and suppliers, product cost roadmaps, capacity plans, sourcing and tooling requirements, and supply chain risk assessment and mitigation plans.
• Develop negotiation strategies with sourcing teams to deliver against business objectives and achieve sustainable relationships with strategic suppliers.
• Manage overall supplier relationships, including performance, capability development, capacity planning, contracting, risk mitigation, and cost and quality improvements.
• Develop roadmaps to achieve NPI and GA total cost targets (TCO), including make vs. buy analysis and value engineering opportunities.
• Ensure non-cost goals (Sustainability, Supplier Development, Cost Savings) are met and supported by the product-specific supply chain strategy.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience developing, negotiating, and executing business agreements.
• Experience developing strategies that influence leadership decisions at the organizational level.
• Experience managing programs across cross-functional teams, building processes, and coordinating release schedules.
• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations, engineering, analytics, or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in high-volume manufacturing operations or sourcing environments.
• 5+ years of supply chain experience, including commodity and supplier management in a high-volume, global sourcing and operations manufacturing environment.
• Experience working with engineering and product teams to define and bring products to market.
• Knowledge of basic supply agreement construction and key contracting provisions/requirements.
• Experience with Microsoft Office.
• Experience with electrical theory, robotics, controls components, automated equipment, or robotics work cells and their control systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations.
• Experience identifying, negotiating, and executing complex legal agreements.
• Master's degree in a technical field or Master of Business Administration (MBA).
• Experience in strategic sourcing, including vendor negotiations, global contract management, process improvement, operational and financial analysis.
• Experience working in a large team or fast-paced corporate environment, troubleshooting problems, and offering solutions to streamline complex challenges.
• Proven track record in cost reduction through negotiations with global suppliers.
• Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• 5+ years of relevant strategic sourcing experience, including vendor negotiations, global contract management, process improvement, operational and financial analysis.
• Experience with analytical tools and the ability to dive deep into metrics and reporting.
• 5+ years of technical recruiting in high-volume environments.
