Sr. Manager, New Products Tech, Amazon Robotics Supply Chain
Job Summary
The Sr. Manager, New Product Tech manages a team of new product supply chain product managers, formulating and executing comprehensive supply chain strategies for robotics products. This role drives critical supply chain decisions, including supplier strategy, technology and vendor selection, and product-specific supplier strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Lead cross-functional supply chain team dedicated to supplier and supply chain design, sourcing and logistics decisions, and supply chain execution for robotics products from concept through development to scaled deployment.
Act as single point of contact for program resources (leadership and working teams) to communicate Supply Chain decisions and PDP progress, provide feedback on supply chain implications of program decisions and changes, and support financial planning and capital approvals for the program.
Develop and own comprehensive supply chain strategies that address make vs. buy decisions, regionalization, and risk management, synthesizing inputs from Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing (AME), Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE), Sourcing (GCM), and Manufacturing (RMTO) to create balanced recommendations that consider all supply chain elements including long-term scalability.
Maintain ownership of overall supply chain requirements throughout product development phases, conducting gate reviews, validating deliverables, and ensuring proper documentation while identifying and resolving risks through appropriate channels.
Responsible for definition and approval of Product-level Supply Chain Strategy documents, including identification of critical components and suppliers, product cost roadmap to meet payback targets, definition of capacity plan and associated sourcing and tooling requirements, and supply chain risk assessment & mitigation plans.
Develop roadmap to achieving NPI and GA total cost targets (TCO), including make vs. buy analysis and value engineering opportunities, ensuring transparency and accountability for financial performance.
Lead products with largest projected spend ($100M/yr in GA) and/or manage multiple products and development efforts in parallel.
Work with Strategic Sourcing in developing negotiation strategies for categories which impact the product to deliver against business objectives and achieve sustainable relationships with strategic suppliers pertaining to Amazon Robotics products supporting priority programs as driven by the Operating Plan (OP).
Maintain consolidated oversight of supplier readiness aligned to PDP gates across six critical dimensions: capacity, quality, contractual status, cost position, design release status, and material lead times.
Work with Global Commodity Managers on managing overall supplier relationships including supplier performance, capability development, capacity planning, contracting, risk mitigation, and cost and quality improvements.
Own overall risk tracking across the supply chain, identifying systemic risks, developing and sharing mitigation plans, establishing risk buy processes, and coordinating with Program TPMs for execution.
Oversee build readiness progress, ensure supplier capacity plans meet program demand, align supply plans with requirements, and serve as the escalation point for execution issues.
Partner with Robotics leadership to ensure partnership between Robotics Supply Chain, hardware engineering, operations and program teams on commodity and supplier selection, cost performance tradeoff analysis, cost roadmap development and execution, and enabling rapid product development stages with effective path to scaled deployment.
Demonstrate executive presence to share programmatic updates at senior leadership levels, influencing product requirements and development strategies while operating with significant levels of autonomy.
Mentor the team across robotics supply chain, promote best practices, teach industry tech and commodity knowledge, and develop standardized tools and processes including cost roadmaps, tradeoff assessments, and supply chain risk models for broader team use.
Ensure non-cost goals (Sustainability, Supplier Development, Cost Savings) are met and supported by the product-specific supply chain strategy.
Develop multi-phase, multi-generational supply chain and cost strategies, seeing around corners for product development and deployment needs and risks.
